⑴Super waterproof fabric
Ordinary raincoats can prevent the penetration of rainwater, but are not conducive to removing sweat and water vapor. Moisture-permeable and waterproof fabrics change this shortcoming. Using the great difference in the size of water vapor particles and raindrops, a porous structure film with a pore size smaller than that of raindrops is attached to the surface of the fabric, so that raindrops cannot pass through, while water vapor and sweat cannot pass through. It can pass smoothly and is conducive to ventilation.

Functional Fabric Atlas
(6) Waterproof and breathable functional fabric
Waterproof and moisture-permeable fabric means that water does not soak into the fabric under a certain pressure, but the sweat emitted by the human body can be transmitted to the outside world through the fabric in the form of water vapor, so as to avoid the accumulation of sweat and condensation between the body surface and the fabric to keep the clothing comfortable. It is a high-tech, unique functional fabric. Waterproofing is not a problem for ordinary fabric workers, the key is how to achieve moisture permeability. Below, we take an in-depth look at it from the types of waterproof and breathable fabrics.
First, through the fiber to achieve moisture permeability
1. Ventair fabric. The earliest waterproof and breathable fabric is the famous Ventile fabric. It was designed by the British Shirley Institute in the 1940s. It was made of Egyptian long-staple cotton, high-count, low-twist pure cotton yarn, high-density and heavy-ply weave fabric. It was mainly used for the cold resistance of British Air Force pilots during the Second World War. Immersion service. When the fabric is dry, the gap between the warp and weft yarns is large, about 10 microns, which can provide a highly moisture-permeable structure; when the fabric is exposed to rain or water, the cotton yarns expand, reducing the gap between the yarns to 3 to 4 microns. This cell-closing mechanism, combined with a special water-repellent finish, ensures that the fabric cannot be further penetrated by rainwater. At present, this type of fabric has been replaced by other waterproof and breathable fabrics.
2. Coolmax fabrics. DuPont, Toray and other international companies have researched the way to expel sweat from the body by creating pores in the fiber, which is the moisture-absorbing and sweat-wicking fabric on the market. This type of fiber production technology is concentrated in the hands of such large international companies, and the price is relatively high, making it difficult to become the mainstream of the market.
Second, through the coating to achieve moisture permeability
Various water-repellent and moisture-permeable coating agents are applied to fabrics by dry direct coating, transfer coating, foam coating, phase inversion or wet coating (set coating) and other process technologies. On the surface of the fabric, the pores on the surface of the fabric are closed or reduced to a certain extent by the coating agent, so as to obtain waterproofness. The moisture permeability of the fabric is through the interaction of the microporous structure formed by a special method on the coating or the hydrophilic group in the coating agent and the water molecules, and by means of hydrogen bonds and other intermolecular forces, the water molecules are adsorbed on the high humidity side, and then the water molecules are absorbed. Transfer to the lower temperature side to obtain the effect of the analysis. The price of the coated fabric is low, and it achieves a certain moisture permeability, and is widely used. However, due to its poor waterproof and moisture permeability and unsatisfactory hand feel, its market share is gradually decreasing.
The wet transfer coated fabric developed now makes the coated fabric new again. It not only has high physical properties such as waterproof and moisture permeability, but also the surface cloth can be treated with 100% Teflon, and the washing fastness can reach 25 times. Above, the hand feel is also very good.
3. Moisture permeability is achieved by laminating waterproof and moisture-permeable membranes
1. PTFE film
The diameter of water vapor molecules is 0.0004 micrometers, while the diameter of light fog with a small diameter in rainwater is 20 micrometers, and the diameter of drizzle is as high as 400 micrometers. If a film with a pore diameter between water vapor and rainwater can be produced, it will be waterproof. Wouldn't it be possible to achieve moisture permeability again? The American GORE company uses polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) to become a company that produces the film, and it is laminated with the fabric and takes the trade name GORE-TEX. However, because PTFE is very chemically inert, there are few materials that can laminate it well with other fabrics, and the fastness of the substitute fabric is very poor.
Later, after continuous efforts, the fastness is greatly improved by sub-combining with other hydrophilic film layers to form a composite film, and carrying out special treatment on the film. It is generally believed that the water pressure of Gore-Tex fabrics can reach 10000mm, and the water pressure will drop significantly after washing 6-7 times; the high moisture permeability can reach 10000g/sqm*24hrs, but this is not the case with just-made fabrics. To reach this value, it needs to be washed several times to remove part of the glue, the available pores will increase, and the moisture permeability will increase.
2. TPU film
TPU is the abbreviation of thermoplastic polyurethane film, which belongs to non-porous hydrophilic film. Since the film itself has no pores, the waterproof effect is naturally good, and it also makes the fabric windproof and warm. Moisture permeability is mainly achieved through its hydrophilic properties, relying on the difference in steam pressure inside and outside the clothes to transfer steam from places with high pressure to places with low pressure, thereby realizing the function of moisture permeability.
(7) Radiation-proof fabric
There are two main types of radiation protection fabrics on the market
Functional cold protection clothing
Functional cold protection clothing
1. Metal fiber fabric 2. Metallized fabric
Metal fiber fabric:
It is to draw stainless steel metal into very fine and very fine wires, and then blend it with fabric fibers.
Wires and fibers are mixed together. The advantage of this fabric is that it is breathable. It looks no different from ordinary fabrics. But when the fabric burns, a metal mesh is left behind. Washable.
The protection is suitable for watching TV at home and working in the office. Under normal circumstances, it can play a good protective role
The anti-radiation clothing of Xingbao Shopping Network is made of this kind of fabric.
Metallized fabric:
The method of electrolysis is that the metal penetrates into the interior of the fabric to form a metal conductor, so as to achieve electromagnetic shielding.
The advantages are: strong protection ability, suitable for telecom transmitter room.
The disadvantage is that the fabric is relatively thick and the air permeability is not very good. Fabric is not washable. Most manufacturers make them detachable. The radiation protection fabric part can be removed.
(8) Antibacterial and deodorant fiber fabric
In 1955, Japan successfully developed fiber fabrics with antibacterial functions. Metals or salts can destroy the metabolic function of bacterial cell membranes, resulting in the death of bacteria, thus playing a role in sterilization. In recent years, many other inorganic and organic antibacterial agents have been developed to impart antibacterial and deodorant properties to fiber fabrics and textiles through blending, composite spinning or finishing [1]. With the development of society and the improvement of people's living standards, antibacterial and deodorant fiber fabrics and textiles are very promising.
(9) Electromagnetic wave shielding fiber fabric
With the popularization of office and household appliances such as mobile phones, computers and microwave ovens, the harm of electromagnetic wave radiation has become increasingly prominent. In order to protect the human body from or minimize the harm of electromagnetic radiation, the electromagnetic radiation source can be shielded to reduce the amount of radiation; it can also wear effective anti-electromagnetic radiation protection fabrics for self-protection.
(10) Medical functional fiber fabrics
Medical functional fibers are the product of the intersection of life science and materials science, and are an important material basis for the development of modern clinical medicine. Medical functional fibers have been used to varying degrees in surgical transplantation, in vitro artificial organs, and medical accessories.
(11) Far-infrared functional fiber fabric
The far-infrared fiber fabric has excellent health care physiotherapy, moisture-removal, ventilation and antibacterial functions. It can absorb the heat emitted by the human body itself, absorb and emit far-infrared rays of the wavelength needed by the human body, promote blood circulation and keep warm. The ideal far-infrared fabric has good thermal insulation, antibacterial and physical therapy functions. At present, far-infrared textiles developed at home and abroad mainly include underwear, trousers, and cushions.
(12) Smart fiber fabrics
At present, the smart textiles developed using smart fibers mainly include automatic color matching clothing, automatic temperature regulating clothing, "smart T-shirts" with "sense" and adaptive protective clothing. Photochromic and thermochromic fibers can be made into smart ski shirts, jackets, crop tops, dresses and hats, which change color in response to changes in indoor and outdoor light. This kind of clothing is very popular among consumers because of its good light, heat discoloration and novelty. The self-adapting temperature-adjusting clothing can change its temperature with the change of the temperature of the human body and the environment, and can protect the body under the condition of no change or less change of the wear load. The "smart T-shirt" woven from plastic optical fibers and conductive fibers can assist medical staff in monitoring the patient's heartbeat, body temperature, blood pressure, respiration and other physiological indicators, and can also be used by monitoring personnel to understand and grasp the conditions of athletes, astronauts, and pilots. It can also be made into baby pajamas to monitor the baby's breathing and prevent the baby from dying of suffocation during sleep. The United States has developed a new type of intelligent protective clothing, which will automatically send an alarm signal after being cut, which can better ensure the safety of workers in radioactive and toxic environments.
